Team Wilson donates thousands of ‘Waggies’ doggie treats to shelter pups

Team Wilson teamed up with Maggies Waggies to donate 8,000 doggie treats to the DHA

We all love our dogs. Especially at Team Wilson! So we are delighted to be partnering with two amazing nonprofits in our community that serve our four-legged friends.

Last month we teamed up with Waggies by Maggie and Friends to deliver 8,000 doggie treats to the Delaware Humane Association (DHA). Team Wilson large volume donation helps support the bakers at Waggies and shelter canines.

“Nothing makes us happier than to be able to support this cause. It’s true to all of our hearts,” says Ashle Wilson Bailey, director of Team Wilson at Long & Foster.

In fact, Ashle's dog Lola was adopted from DHA, and she has fostered dogs before from the shelter. “Our temporary fosters became foster fails,” she said. “They’re now part of our family!”

Waggies employs people with intellectual disabilities who bake and sell nutritional bones and kibble bits that dogs love. Each package is carefully labeled by hand by Elizabeth Nolan, one of the very first to don a chef’s hat at the non-profit business when it opened 14 years ago.

Elizabeth and her mother Mary Ann Nolan joined us as we pulled a bright green wagon filled with 20 boxes of Waggies treats into the DHA headquarters on May 26.

“Dog owners are nice people,” says Mary Ann. “We are just so grateful to Team Wilson – A large volume order like this puts our awesome bakers to work!”

DHA is now caring for 80 dogs, and the treats will be a tasty tool as the staff trains them for adoption. “Waggies treats will go a long way here,” says DHA Director David Carroll. “Dogs are sort of like in school here as our trainers teach them basic commands and prepare them for adoption.”

Lucious takes his turn inside the ring at the 2021 Westminster Dog Show

We have an update on Lucious, the handsome Rhodesian Ridgeback who qualified to compete in this year’s Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.

Lucious took his turn around the ring at the fabled dog show this past weekend. And while it was an amazing experience for dog and trainer, Lucious, unfortunately, did not earn the top prize. But we are so proud of this extraordinary champion. He is definitely a winner to us!
